As one of the pioneers of the Chinese Android tablet industry, Ainol has been pretty quiet for quite some time now. Although it did release a few tablets in 2014, on both the Windows 8 and Android fronts, none of those slates has been successful enough to regain the market share Ainol kept losing to its rivals such as Cube and Teclast.
Since the release of Intel’s Bay-trail series processors, there has been an increasing demand for mini PCs. For example, the PIPO X7 TV Box/Mini PC which was released in the end of last year, as imperfect as it was, still enjoyed enormous success. While other Chinese companies were busy marketing their Core-M powered Windows tablets, Ainol announced their first ever mini PC/Intel TV Box – the Ainol MINI PC.
Measuring at 150*115*14.6mm, the Ainol MINI PC is the smallest Personal Computer to date, and can even fit into our pockets.
Although it is only several percent of the size of a full desktop PC, the device still delivers equivalent performance to entry-level laptops. Powered by the Intel Atom Bay-trail Z3735D quad-core processor and 2GB RAM, it has no problem handling Microsoft office applications or browsing complex web pages.
The MINI PC offers lots of connectivity options as well. With one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, an HDMI output and a Micro SD card on board, it offers as much connectivity as full desktop PCs. The device also has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, which spares you the annoyance of cables.
This MINI PC has 7,000mAh battery which, according to Ainol, could keep the device working for 14 consecutive hours. Even better, it can be carried around as a mobile charger to charge your phones and tablets when needed.
The Ainol MINI PC is fanless, so it is pretty quiet while it is working. But you don’t have to worry about it getting heated like the PIPO X7 does because Ainol has included a nanometer graphite heat dissipating system in its MINI PC, making sure that it doesn’t crush working 24/7.
The Ainol MINI PC also has with a multifunctional remote, which is a combination of a keyboard, a mouse and a traditional media player remote. At 150*45*13mm, it is extremely compact. Unfortunately, it is not included in the retail package and needs to be purcahsed separately.
The Ainol MINI PC (2GB/32GB) is priced at RMB699 ($113), and will be on sale soon.
