MINIX was present at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair, and so was their next TV box model Neo X8.

It is the first non-Rockchip device from MINIX and it uses the latest Amlogic S802 quad-core processor with Mali-450 GPU.
The MINIX Neo X8 features 2GB DDR3 RAM, 8GB EMMc storage, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, external antenna, HDMI and S/PDIF ports, Ethernet port, 4 x USB 2.0 ports, SD card slot and IR receiver. It will also support 4K video output.

The NEO X8 runs Android 4.4 KitKat and comes preloaded with a custom MINIX Android launcher.

There will also be an higher-end model the NEO X8s, with upgraded 16GB of starage, dual WiFi and the Amlogic S802-H chip which supports Dolby Digital and DTS audio.
The MINIX NEO X8 is expected to be released end of Maj 2014.

    Very impressive indeed. Android has certainly come a very long way. The chap here has made the UI very simplistic indeed. Nice work – hope it can also be downloaded so users of the M8 S802 can also have a taster of the ROM
