At the Hong Kong Electronics Fair this weekend, Allwinner unveiled their new Octa-core solution H8 in order to stay competitive in the low-cost Android TV box market.
The new Allwinner H8 solution is based on 28nm technology, using 8 ARM Cortex-A7 cores (up to 2.0GHz) and the powerful PowerVR SGX54 GPU (up to 700MHz). The H8 supports multi-format 1080p @ 60fps video codec, H.265 / HEVC video processing, integrated 8M ISP image signal processing architecture can support 8MP camera. H8 supports HDCP V1.2 protocol and HDMICEC. In addition, the H8 is powered by SmartColor technology for higher image quality and better visual effect.
The cost for TV box devices based on the Allwinner H8 is expected to land somewhere between $49 to $69, no date when this solution will be available for manufacturers.
